New wave-post punk from greece
Libido Blume, the new music formation that succeeded the pioneers Cpt Nefos included Akis Boyatzis too. Consequently, the nouveau new wave band released their first LP via Dikaioma Diavasis [(=right of crossing) nowadays under the name Di Di Music organizing concerts] in 1986 entitled "Colours Melting" and it sounds as the natural continuation of Cpt Nefos. Although the songs seem to be simplistic, eventually they prove to be mature and direct - filled with post punk energy, as well as scattered influences from garage and/or funk. Accordingly, the album is full of great songs such as the great "In My Room" -an earlier version of the song in the legendary "Outsiders" compilation (also via Dikaioma Diavasis). Similarly in the same vein, and to name a few more explosive songs: "Colours Melting #1" and Vive La Difference". Have a good listening to this great LP !!!

LIBIDO BLUME - (1986) COLOURS MELTING lp
Thus, we decided to start up in an optimistic manner. By no means it doesn't cancel our statement above. We see music as a sort of exorcising means. So we chose the second release by the Libido Blume entitled "Brilliant Names and Dames" issued under Dikaioma Diavasis (Today's DiDi Music) in 1987. This is a mini LP with 5 short new wave gems stuffed with energy and spirit in the same way the first LP "Colours Melting" sounded like. Those 5 songs include more optimism amidst the well-known post punk lines in a sort of fresh way. Starting with the excellent same titled track "Brilliant Names and Dames", then the doubtful "Who Wants the Abortionists? (we are not alone)", then the beautiful instrumental "Leather Bags" and next, with one of L.B.'s best songs "No Flowers for Florita". The mini LP closes with a surprising "cover", apparently "Cadillac Dreams" is being replayed here and if you all could recall, this was originally played by Cpt Neφος (the band that preexisted Libido Blume, Akis Boyatzis was a member of that band too). Don't forget to check the brilliant lyrics included in the scans.
Have a good listening to this one, we believe that L.B. will have a positive effect anyway.

In this third LP Libido Blume demonstrate maturity and originality at the same time. We believe that it is equally strong as its precedent LPs even though there is a slight turn towards more "pop-ish" direction as they manage to retain that already known melancholic hue. This LP is possibly upon the boderline of Akis Boyatzis' turning point as expressed with Deka Metra Dendra (Ten Metre Trees) and Sigmatropic later on. The title of the album may indicate some liquid situation regarding the group and its the members at the time.
Inspiration is inexhaustible for Libido Blume even in this last LP as they tend to surprise with new and colourful compositions. The same titled song "Liquid Situation" is indeed one of the best here, but apart from that, there's another one that you can't avoid loving it; that is "Under Your Blinding Shadow", an acoustic gem. The repeated tunes of "Lily Rinds" and "Stormy Love, Rainy June" will be imprinted in your head for a long time. Also, the excellent instrumental "Down for You is Up" is one of the best songs here. Libido Blume were good at making simple -even pop- songs, which were potential masterpieces, all of them. In other words, pay attention to "Off Hand", "Curious Eyes" and "Once Upon A Time... the Stars" because they don't reveal themselves too easily. Last, and beyond the classic trademark "House of Light", there's the extraordinary "Intoxicated", which is unlike anything else these guys have done, yet retaining that melancholic tone.
Have a good listening to their last but altogether delightful "Liquid Situation".
